Organization
Provides reference and research services to library patrons; including answering questions at the public reference desk and responding to faculty and student requests submitted in person, by email or via or other forums.

Provide support and training for online resources and emerging technologies.  Track trends, investigate new developments and evaluate new electronic resources for the library environment to improve library services and access to information.

Teach law students how to conduct legal research, emphasizing online resources, in formal courses and informal workshops.Teach a section of the required 1L legal research course and provide guest lectures on legal research in other law school courses.

Develops guides to the library collections and research aids using the University's LibGuides platform and assist as necessary with content on the Law School's Digital Commons repository and website.

Participates in collection development and preservation activities, especially relating to the library's online collections.

Develop training opportunities for students, staff and faculty relating to electronic resources.

Participate in conferences related to law librarianship, legal research instruction and the use of innovative legal technology.

Compile data from various sources for monthly and annual reports.

Provide tours of the law library and the College of Law.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Location
Required Education: Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited school, AND:

    12 months of  library experience
Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative
  • Strong user-service orientation
  • Demonstrated aptitude in the use of print and online research sources include Westlaw Edge, Lexis+, Bloomberg Law, and other online legal resources.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
    Advertised Physical Requirements:

    • Frequent exposure to interruptions.
    • Required to travel to professional conferences and meetings.
    • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, carry and climb.
    Departmental Preferences:

    • Law library reference and/or teaching experience.
    • Knowledge of integrated library systems, such as Ex Libris Alma.
    • Experience with technology in an academic or a legal environment
    • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
