Position Summary:

This person will be responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with clinical sites for the purpose of establishing clinical rotations for Physician Assistant (PA) students. Position will require travel to clinical sites to evaluate the site and the overall quality of the clinical rotation experience. The Clinical Coordinator will assure compliance with PA program handbook, College policies & procedures, and ARC-PA standards as they pertain to clinical rotations and Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPE). This person will be responsible for facilitating simulation experiences in the PA program for both Didactic and Clinical phases students.

Education:

-Bachelor degree in Physician Assistant or other healthcare-related discipline. (Minimum)
-Physician Assistant applicant must be a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA Program, hold current NCCPA certification (PA-C), and be either currently licensed, or board-eligible to become licensed, as a PA-C in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. (Desired)
-Applicant who is not a PA-C must possess either a current, active unencumbered registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania—OR—a current National Registry certification as a paramedic. (Minimum).

Experience:

-Three (3) years of clinical experience as a PA-C (Desired) —OR—three years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN), or Paramedic. (Minimum)
-Prior experience as an instructor in higher education. (Desired)
-Experience working in an academic Physician Assistant Program. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-In collaboration with Program Director, schedule supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPE) in an effective and efficient manner that meets ARC-PA standards and maximizes the learning experience for the students. (Essential)
-Conduct clinical site visits on a schedule approved by Program Director to ensure the physical facilities, patient populations, and supervision being provided by preceptors are appropriate for students to fulfill program learning outcomes. (Essential)
-Act as liaison between affiliate clinical sites, the Program Director, and the College. (Essential)
-Responsible for ensuring the clinical affiliation agreements are current and accurate. (Essential)
-In collaboration with the Office Assistant and the Program Coordinator, maintain information confirming that all preceptors remain current with appropriate credentials and are in good standing with the applicable board(s). (Essential)
-In collaboration with the Program Director, update the preceptor manual annually to ensure preceptors and students understand their roles and responsibilities during Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences. (Essential)
-In consultation with the program director, update the clinical year program manual annually and disseminate at the start of each academic year. (Essential)
-Develop and coordinate simulation experiences in conjunction with the faculty. (Essential)
-Assist with the operation of physician assistant laboratory equipment. (Essential)
-In conjunction with faculty, develop/revise as-needed, and implement simulation scenarios in various specialties based on evidence-based practice for the novice to the advanced student. (Essential)
-Prepare laboratory for demonstrations and student simulations. (Essential)
-Maintain an adequate inventory of state-of-the-art supplies and equipment; monitor usage of all supplies and equipment. (Essential)
-Maintain simulation equipment and coordinate with company representatives as needed. (Essential)
-Provide education to faculty/staff on use of simulation as needed. (Essential)
-Assist with the oversight and administering of required program examinations, clinical competency evaluations, skills check-offs, and OSCEs, when appropriate. (Essential)
-In collaboration with the Program Director and Program Coordinator, recruit and maintain relationships with area healthcare providers and community leaders for the purposes of supporting clinical sites, program enrollment, and program objectives. (Essential)
-Participate in advisory board meetings. (Minimum)
-Provide academic advising for both pre-PA and in-program PA students. (Essential)
-Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum for PA education and incorporation of instructional experiences within the curriculum designed to achieve and maintain compliance with ARC-PA standards, when appropriate. (Essential)
-Assist with data collection, outcomes assessment, and document construction for accreditation self-study, annual assessment reporting, and program review. (Essential)
-Engage in professional development and new technological activities in order to upgrade skills and knowledge base, especially as it relates to simulation education. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the Program and the College by serving on and/or participating in College committees as requested or designated. (Marginal)
-Assist Program faculty and staff in reviewing admissions packets and validating applicants for selective admissions process. (Essential)
-Assist with student recruitment by participating in student tours, student information sessions, Open Houses, or other scheduled recruitment events.

Special Job Features:

-Finalists for this position must present a sample lesson.-Must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) – English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76.-Some evening and weekend hours will be necessary to meet the needs of the program. (Minimum)-Occasional travel to clinical sites that may, in some cases, require an overnight stay.-State Police, Child Line, and FBI fingerprint clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) required before employment can begin.—Background check will be required on selected candidate.
