Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director for Diversity, Inclusion, and Talent, the Director of Talent Management and Workforce Planning will design and implement strategies and programs to recruit, retain, promote and grow a diverse and inclusive workforce that supports the goals and objectives of the University of Georgia. The Director will be responsible for the management, organization and implementation of strategic initiatives related to classification, recruitment, and workforce planning. The Director will lead a team of HR professionals and develop a service culture dedicated to improving efficiencies and effectiveness to support our campus partners in attracting and retaining top talent at the University of Georgia.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Leadership/Strategy

  • Provides leadership, direction and develop the professional activities and staff assigned to the Talent Management and Workforce Planning team.
  • Establish goals and objectives consistent with goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Partner and influence key business partners, customers, operations leaders to drive strategic outcomes.
  • Translate strategic initiatives into modeling that provides executable and measurable outcomes with an emphasis on resource optimization and service level delivery.
  • Proactively participate in strategic planning conversations with regards to future operational staff needs and make recommendations based on analytical and historical data.
  • Streamline and optimize analytical and forecasting processes through continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the leadership team to formulate, develop, implement and evaluate a HR and Talent Management Strategy to achieve the organization’s vision, mission and goals, and to create value to its stakeholders.
  • Lead translation of business objectives into executable plans with emphasis on resource optimization and service level delivery. Accountable for general oversight of forecasting daily and interval level workload, scheduling contact center resources, and managing service level delivery.
  • Maintain expertise regarding Talent Management and Workforce Planning best practices. Utilize expertise to help drive strategic agenda. Make recommendations to improve efficiencies and service delivery.
  • Leads and supports department staff in meeting individual and group goals, providing frequent feedback to team members and demonstrate superior service to internal and external customers.
  • Enhances team satisfaction through recognition and professional development plans. Leads cross functional collaboration between each University HR Service Center of Excellence, ensuring commitment to shared vision of talent investment.

Operations

  • Directs the successful execution of UGA’s Talent Management and Workforce Planning strategy with responsibility for strategic design, measurement, and execution of operations and processes.
  • Develop and drive flexible, multi-faceted hiring strategies that leverage internal and external talent channels.
  • Designs, administers, and actively participates in the position description management, as well as the recruitment and selection process for academic, administrative, and support staff positions.
  • Establishes methods to appropriately monitor results against targets
  • Directs, manages, and oversees the implementation of employment policies and procedures.
  • Develops and administers personnel policies of the organization to ensure consistent and standard procedures.
  • Facilitates committees, teams, and ad hoc groups designed to informally address Talent Management and Workforce Planning.
  • Identifies and builds on internal and external practices that are leading edge, scalable, culturally consistent and forward thinking.
  • Leads implementation and change initiatives, ensuring successful adoption. Measures activities and provides meaningful and actionable analysis to drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure that support staff is knowledgeable and have the most current information to offer employees, allowing them to make informed decisions.
