Posting Summary:

The Executive Director of University Marketing leads University-wide brand positioning, creative development of marketing campaigns, strategic brand initiatives, market research, and marketing in support of student recruitment and other initiatives of the University. They are responsible for the creation, direct management, execution, and supervision of University marketing strategies, campaigns and initiatives that advance the University’s strategic direction and the plans of the major academic units. Success requires a “thinker-doer,” a highly-collaborative management style and the ability to build and sustain constructive partnerships with colleagues throughout the university.

The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in enhancing the University of Vermont’s market position, reputation and visibility as a top land-grant, research university, specifically targeting key audiences in defined regional, national, international and government environments. The Executive Director will partner closely with schools and departments across the University to create and lead aligned initiatives that help fulfill the University’s mission of education, research, and service. This includes attracting high-achieving students from new markets, increasing diversity within the student population, and promoting passion and pride within the broad University community. The Executive Director will have a direct supervisory role for marketing staff as well as cross-functional team leadership responsibilities. They will also supervise the work of external freelancers, agencies and firms as needed.
