Nature of Work:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business services team in the University of Colorado | School of Medicine – Department of Pediatrics at the Anschutz Medical Campus. The Anschutz Medical Campus fosters collaboration among students, researchers, and clinicians in one of the largest academic health centers in the nation. Campus architecture and state-of-the-art technology bridge education and research with two world-class hospitals: University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado.  The Department of Pediatrics includes 25 sections, 18 programs and 3 affiliates with approximately 1,200 faculty and staff.   

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking applications for a Senior Financial/Business Analyst – Colorado Springs. This full-time (1.0 FTE), University Staff (non-classified) position will serve as a key resource to Colorado Springs-based faculty in support of accounting and financial activities and related business functions including financial reporting, analysis, forecasting and business planning. The Department currently has 100 Colorado Springs-based clinical faculty members with planned growth in several areas in partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado (Colorado Springs).

The Senior Financial/Business Analyst is responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert level.

The person in this role will work closely and collaboratively with the Departmental (Directors and Business Managers), CU Medicine, and Children’s Hospital Colorado-Colorado Springs personnel to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient business services in support of Departmental faculty. The position is responsible for understanding the complexities, systems and the funds flow between the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and CU Medicine while supporting a variety of financial and business analysis tasks to provide accurate and timely requests for financial data, analysis, projections and various projects. 

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Providing business analysis support in the evaluation of growth strategies, cost containment efforts, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Supporting revenue cycle management, reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Supporting operations management for clinical activities as needed.
  • Independently completing tasks associated with monthly and year-end accounting function.
  • Performing data tracking and analysis on faculty finances, productivity and operations.
  • Developing financial analysis tools and reports to be used in the monthly preparation and review of financial information and in the financial and clinical analysis of specialty clinical activities.
  • Helping prepare education materials and communications for faculty and staff in regard to all financial matters for their clinics.
  • Contributing to faculty strategic planning, recruitment, and onboarding as needed.
  • Identifying areas for streamlining, process improvement opportunities, and best practices.
  • Communicating with CU School of Medicine, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and CU Medicine on administrative and financial affairs for the CU Briargate Center.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business/public administration, healthcare administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.  At least two (2) years of broad and diversified professional level experience that included fiscal management responsibilities within a complex health care, academic or biomedical research setting. 
Substitution: A combination of education and related professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, data analysis or other quantitative field, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $58,508 to $74,422.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
