Primary Function of Organizational Unit :

East Carolina University’s Principal Fellows Program (ECU PFP) prepares effective principals from eastern North Carolina, for eastern North Carolina, who innovate, revitalize, advocate, and transform education for all students, families, and teachers. The ECU PFP builds upon ECU’s nationally accredited principal preparation program (NPBEA, 2013) as it partners with superintendents and principals across 30 school districts in eastern North Carolina to recruit and identify “proven and experienced” instructional leaders and teacher leaders who have a desire to lead and serve their communities as school principals. The ECU PFP will graduate a total of 100 ECU Principal Fellows (PFs) over the course of the six-year grant cycle. The ECU PFP will admit 20 PFs each year.

Job Duties :

Regional Cohort Lead Coaches will be responsible for the recruitment and admissions process for their specific region (between 12-17 school districts). Each Regional Cohort Lead will be a proven and experienced school leader and will provide consistent leadership coaching and instruction throughout the program for the ECU Principal Fellows in their region. Each cohort lead will establish strong relationships with LEA Leadership Teams and organize meeting locations and MOUs with LEA partners, schedule meetings, and order and distribute materials to Principal Fellows in their region. They will also maintain ongoing communications with each LEA Leadership Team via email and our website.

Job Duties:

80% ECU Principal Fellows Coaching Support: Responsible for coaching and supporting Principal Fellows to ensure their success while in the program. Will work with school district leaders to advocate for eventual placement of ECU Principal Fellows in leadership jobs in their school districts.

10% ECU PFP District Partnership Support: Responsible for effective communications with our district partners to ensure strong partnerships. Will also help facilitate MOUs with LEA partners, distribute materials to PFs in the region, and maintain ongoing communication with each LEA Leadership Team via phone, email, virtual meetings, and the ECU PFP website.

10% ECU PFP Team Support: Responsible for sharing regional updates at regular ECU PFP Team meetings. Will participate in action plans to support Principal Fellows and program improvements. Will coordinate with the ECU PFP Team to utilize best practices of coaching and maintain documentation of their coaching practices that will be used to improve the ECU PFP’s coaching model.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Master of School Administration degree or Master of Education degree; previous experience as a school principal.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Leadership coaching experience.
