The Division of Enrollment Management has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Admission to work in Coral Gables, FL.

Under the direction of the Executive Director or Assistant Vice President, the Director of Admission Selection & Systems plays a lead role in recruiting and enrolling qualified students for admission to the school in accordance with all applicable internal and external policies and regulations. This position oversees the entire First-Year admission selection process.

Up to 4 weeks of domestic and/or international travel in the fall and up to 2 weeks in the spring will be required. This includes occasional evening and weekend commitment especially during specific times of the year between October and May. This position requires weekly in office presence and is open to being hybrid with designated remote work time.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Leads the First-Year admission selection process on behalf of Undergraduate Admission
2. Responsible for leading and managing a team of admission professionals
3. Manages Slate (Technolutions) platforms to lead accurate, timely reporting to internal and external constituents
4. Explains educational programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial considerations to students, parents, and educators
5. Makes prompt and effective contact with prospective and admitted candidates
6. Secures personally developed inquiries by obtaining the contact information of those that may be interested in programs offered
7. General office duties, which include rotating with other counselors in serving as “Admission Officer of the Day” (meet with walk-in visitors, handle phone calls, and give presentations to guests)
8. Participates in off-campus events to move prospective students through the pipeline (including high school/community college visits, college fairs, and yield events)
9. Evaluate undergraduate applications for admission based on the University’s recruiting goals and standards
10. Counsel parents, applicants, and school counselors regarding the University of Miami’s admission policies and procedures
11. Attend on-campus admission events (open houses, admitted student events, scholarship competition weekends)
12. Expertly liaises with Financial Aid and Admission Operations teams
13. Performs employee evaluations of direct reports
14. Analyzes enrollment reports from all sources, and makes subsequent recommendations to the rest of leadership
15. Other advanced, or “large-scale” project work as assigned

The Director must possess excellent management, presentation , communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. The person must have the ability to work independently, as well as with teams of colleagues, and possess the aptitude for detail-oriented tasks. The Director will also possess strong time management skills, a sense of humor, and have the ability to prioritize and balance responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required, Master’s Degree preferred

Experience:

7+years of professional experience within higher education; prior management experience required. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including giving presentations
  • Ability to lead team to achievement of project goals
  • Ability to work independently and successfully in CRM system (Slate) and reader platform (Slate Reader)
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives, that support the strategic plan
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships, both internally and externally
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and balance numerous responsibilities
