Under direction of the Associate Director, Clinical Operation the incumbent has overall responsibility for Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry services at the Faculty of Dentistry, assessing laboratory areas and ensuring they are run effectively with respect to staffing, equipment and other resources. Duties include: managing staff, making staffing decisions, maintaining inventory of materials and equipment, ensuring all capital equipment is fully functioning and recommending replacements, replacement value and budgetary expenses. The incumbent provides Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry services to patients. As one of the senior managers, is responsible for contributing to planning and implementing changes in operations.


In addition to being responsible for overseeing the Faculty of Dentistry’s Orthodontics and Paediatric units and operations, the position will manage the clinical teams.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION:

• University Degree in Health or Business Administration (organizational management) with a background in dental services.
• Community College in Dental Assisting Level II Dental Assistant certified by the Ontario Dental Assistants Association or in Dental Hygiene certified by the Ontario Dental Hygienists Association
• An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:
Five years of related experience. Strong managerial experience in a unionized environment. Experience in an academic environment preferred. Demonstrated experience in training, coaching and managing a team. Experience implementing initiatives. Experience with planning, and implementing workflow, performance standards and audits.
