The center’s current scope of work includes behavioral health, child health & well-being, community health systems development, health & health care financing, health in all policies, health systems transformation, long-term services & support, population & global health, and rural health. The center conducts, analyzes, and disseminates qualitative and quantitative research to connect decision-makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. The center is at work locally, nationally, and internationally with public and private partners to improve health and well-being.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The RA II is a contributing member of multiple research, technical assistance, policy development, and programmatic teams, depending on scope of work. The RA II will provide research and project support that contributes to a scientifically sound background for center activities.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

    Facilitating data for decision-making and sensemaking sessions with diverse stakeholders. Strengthening the capacity of program partners to utilize various types of data and information available to them for decision-making and evaluative purposes. Collecting, linking, analyzing, and translating multi-sourced quantitative and qualitative data (descriptive and inferential statistics, trended analyses). Managing and, as appropriate, leading the implementation of projects of varying size and complexity, including planning, organizing, and managing resources to achieve specific project goals and objectives.Leveraging research and data to inform and support policy, programming, and practice. Implementing evidence-based and best-practice technical assistance and bringing new methods and modes into the technical assistance work. Participating in strategic meeting design and facilitation for clients and collaborative workgroups. Serving as a project coordinator to provide project management and support the management of grants and contracts. Assisting senior staff in identifying and responding to new research and funding opportunities. Building relationships with clients and external stakeholders including state agencies, community groups, and academic partners. Preparing literature reviews, research papers and manuscripts, posters and oral presentations, policy white papers, briefs, and client reports. Assisting in the preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications. Attend meetings and represent the GHPC at conferences and national meetings. Serving as a mentor to students and RA Is.

Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques, methodologies, equipment, processes, and procedures. Knowledge of automated systems and software (spreadsheets, word processors, presentations, graphic design, educational, virtual meeting platforms, computers, scanners, and databases). Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and exhibit excellent customer service. Effective time management and organizational skills. Effective oral and verbal communication with external and internal customers.

Georgia State’s main campus is located on 34 acres in downtown Atlanta. University centers in Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Buckhead and Henry County offer students convenient suburban locations for graduate courses in business and education.

More than 50,000 students annually attend Georgia State University. While 90 percent of the students are from Georgia, students also come from all 50 states and 160 countries. More than 1,400 international students attend Georgia State and graduate students comprise 31 percent of the student population.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
