Job Description:
  • Assists faculty during their practices, anticipating needs of doctors and patients to expedite the efficient running of the practice. Works with other dental assistants as a team.
  • Performs all legal dental expanded duty auxiliary functions.
  • Cleans operatory and lab. Maintains an up-to-date inventory of supplies. Orders supplies as needed.
  • Maintains dental operatories and armamentaria as needed by the orthodontic faculty.
  • Maintains daily records and patient charts.
  • Greets and prepares the patient for treatment. Establishes rapport with the patient in order to relieve patient fear and anxiety. Assists front desk with phone and scheduling appointments.
  • Performs proper DAU techniques including standardized tray set up, instrument transfer, operation of lights, air, and water.
  • Pours and trims models. Makes essix retainers.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Expected Salary:

$15-17 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of dental hygiene principles and practices
- Knowledge of orthodontic expanded duties
- Knowledge of dental terminology

SKILLS
- Skill in performing four-handed dentistry
- Skill in performing expanded duties
- Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing

ABILITIES
- Ability to identify and maintain dental instruments
- Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment
- Ability to organize and skill in maintaining records and using a computer for patient management
- Ability to work independently
