The Department of Neurosurgery has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor position.

Position will report to the Vice-Chair for Research.

Position will supervise technical staff and trainees and will assist in the coordination of professional staff activities and efforts.

Examples of Work Performed

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Conduct researchCollaborate with other physicians-scientists and scientists both within and outside of the DepartmentExplore the mechanisms of olfactor learning and working memoryResearch mentorship (graduate/medical students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, fellows, and research staff)Obtain extramural support for studies involving the study of aging, neurologic injury and neuroinflammation.Publish high-impact manuscripts in peer reviewed journals.Provide academic leadership and service to the Department, School, University and profession.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary has been established at $74,500.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

PhD in Neuroscience, Physiology, or a related degreeAccomplishments and publications in the areas of olfactory learning, systems neuroscience of memory, odor decoding

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with team-based research that promotes an inclusive environmentExperience in vivo brain electrophysiological techniquesExperience in analysis of data including phase/amplitude coupling and odor decoding is a plusDemonstrated potential to establish an independent extramurally funded program of researchKnowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to design and conduct rigorous experimentsStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institutionAbility to lead and supervise others to achieve high productivity
