Job Details
The Assistant Director will be responsible in managing various components of workforce development initiatives such as Ready to Work, Texas Two-Step, and more. Program management will include coordinating with community partners for recruitment and collaboration. In addition, the Assistant Director will help support enrollment of participants within various training programs. Under limited supervision from the Director of Employer Relations and Community Outreach. Proceeds on own initiative within policy limits set by supervisor.
This is a grant funded position. Grant funded positions are contingent upon available grant funding.
Responsiblities:
Oversee the development, management and coordination of workforce development and continuing education programs, including registration, instructor recruitment, and maintaining key partnerships.
Utilize intake and tracking forms, standardized assessment and reporting tools, to determine service levels needed per participant per city of San Antonio-provided criteria
Enters data into databases as directed in a timely and accurate manner
Communicate with Intake and Initial Assessment Specialist about ongoing capacity
Accept eligible participants with service based on City-provided criteria
Use participant-centric approach in all aspects of case management process
Explore career options with participant, including day-to-day expectations
Prepare formal individual plan, which includes career and education plans, with timelines and milestones
Provide coaching and mentoring
Enroll participant in relevant training and educational courses and help participant successfully complete enrolled training and educational courses
Provide tuition and fee payment services for training and educational courses
Provide referrals and follow-up for emergency and social support services (such as: daycare, transportation, computer and internet access, school and work supplies, locked transcripts, record expungement, rent and mortgage, utilities, food, and clothing)
Provide job search support and job retention services during first 90 days and up to one year of career employment
Measure participant experience by soliciting real-time feedback via surveys and assessments
Gauge hiring and on-going employer talent needs, and align training and educational program guidance in regards to local employer talent needs
Adapt approach to fit revised priorities or significant events like labor market changes
Collaborate with City and community partners to fulfill the goals of the program
Meet the programmatic outcomes/performance measurements
Ensure case record documentation is current, accurate and thorough and compliant with established policies and procedures
Prepares monthly and/or quarterly reporting to measure effectiveness of various projects
Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality.
Complies with all A&M-SA University policies and guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Will supervise student and part-time support staff

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree
Six years of related experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's Degree
Minimum of two years of experience in higher education, workforce development, community relations or other related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have the ability to effectively interact with the general public, staff and employer representatives.
Experience in developing and facilitating workshops; developing and delivering presentations, and exhibiting excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to organize and work independently as a leader and as part of a team and a strong commitment to cultural diversity.
Experience in developing and maintaining case management focused training programs is preferred.
Bilingual – English and Spanish is helpful.
Experience utilizing client management tools such as TWIST, Signify, or equivalent
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, and policies applicable to workforce development.
Familiarity with contract management of federal, state, local grants preferred.
