Job Description

The Development Officer II, under direction of the Executive Director of Advancement, is responsible for identification and personal solicitation of prospective donors. Develops and maintains an online giving program and social network. Works closely with the Executive Director, Board leaders, and other staff to prepare and coordinate the annual giving program to meet the fundraising goals of the Texas A&M University – San Antonio.


  • Solicits prospects for gifts and sponsorships for annual giving societies. Assists in establishing goals and objectives. Assists in developing guidelines, procedures, and rules.

  • Coordinates and manages all aspects of assigned fundraising campaigns, including mail, email, social media, and phone campaigns

  • Plan and support fundraising events and other campus events.

  • Represent Office of University Advancement in various committees across campus.

  • Responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing proposals to corporate sources.

  • Collaborate with business service operations to develop sponsorship agreements and contracts.

  • Recruits, trains, and oversees interns and student workers.

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive annual giving program.

  • Develops and assists in setting and forecasting fundraising goals.

  • Works with outside vendors to develop needed materials for fundraising programs.

  • Work collaboratively with Alumni Affairs to assist with the alumni engagement process to include attending events off campus.

  • Develops and maintains an online giving program and social network initiative.

  • Works directly with the web staff and Marketing & Communications staff to develop content, and materials for a variety of projects, taking overall design and accessibility into consideration.

  • Collaborates closely with business service operations to interface with applications used to accept online payments and donations.

  • Works with Director and various campus constituencies to assist with campus fundraising.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree an

  • Two years of related experience in fundraising, marketing, development, communication or public relations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of fundraising database and spreadsheet application.

  • Strong written and communication skills along with having strong organizational, analytical and planning skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines and work collaboratively with others.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
