Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education and community service goals of the University. The Data & Information Management (D&IM) division provides common and shared data and analytics services that are used by multiple OIT divisions, across OIT, and across the campus. The OIT Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse team is responsible for the design, development, deployment, documentation, ongoing maintenance and support of the enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and decision support for the campus. The EDW is the centerpiece of the campus reporting and analytics strategy, facilitating decision making at all levels. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Data & Information Management (D&IM), the Community of Practice Manager manages customer experience for solutions delivered by D&IM teams, including outreach, training and written communications. Outreach responsibilities include managing strategy, delivering content, and organizing regular engagements to develop awareness, competency and collaboration among users of D&IM solutions, collecting and assessing feedback on user satisfaction and unmet needs, and providing consultative services to campus business units regarding D&IM products and services. Training responsibilities include developing and delivering instructional content on governance policies, strategies and procedures; data assets including data marts; data competency; content development and usage; procedures and best practices. Written communications responsibilities include developing, disseminating and maintaining written content on the D&IM website, wiki, metadata repository, email, and other media regarding strategy, tools, data assets, procedures and best practices. Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced data / information management professional with full understanding of industry practices and campus / medical center / OP and department methodologies, policies and procedures to resolve complex and wide ranging issues where analyses of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Demonstrates competency in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Other duties include managing triage, assignment and escalations for support tickets, monitoring adherence to SLAs, and providing Tier 1 support regarding the use of tools and data assets delivered by D&IM. Required: Experience building a technical community of practice. Background in mentorship and training. Three (3) to five (5) years hands-on experience with business intelligence tools including Cognos and Tableau.Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Thorough knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards. Thorough knowledge of relevant rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated service orientation skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills. Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems. Ability to represent relevant information in abstract models. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Preferred: Ability to prepare data models unassisted. Familiarity with data model patterns in one or more common business or academic domains. Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion. Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements. Ability to represent relevant information in abstract models. Proficiency with analytical use of data. Proficiency with data warehousing strategy including data marts and operational data stores, Special Conditions Required: Must pass a background check. Must be able to attend on-campus meetings, presentations, and other events as needs dictate.
