The Center for Human Resources provides exemplary and customer-focused human resources services in support of the University and enhancing the campus environment to support faculty and staff. The Center for Human Resources is comprised of five service areas: Benefits Services, Human Resources Services, Employment Services, Labor and Employee Relations, and Payroll Services, all of which are supported by the Director's Office and Human Resources Information Systems. Major departmental programs and activities include classification and compensation, recruitment and talent acquisition, training and professional development for staff and management, benefits administration (including leave management and workers compensation), payroll administration, workforce administration, labor and employee relations, and reporting and analytics for all employees.

Under general supervision, the HR Services Coordinator (Admin Support Coordinator I) provides comprehensive administrative support to the Center for Human Resources team. The position is responsible for providing and ensuring exceptional support when assisting customers with general inquiries and pre-boarding. The position may be responsible for full coordination of the following: virtual front desk, pre-boarding, departmental scanning, paycheck distribution, office supply inventory and ordering, income, and employment verifications, volunteer and consultant processing, and assisting with coordination of all student assistants.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator who is adept in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with our diverse workforce. They will be an active listener with a customer service focus. They will exercise sound judgment and discretion toward the completion of assignments and projects while managing multiple work priorities and competing deadlines. The ideal candidate will be adaptable to changes in priorities, trends, strategies, and other work processes.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits-eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated as non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Six months experience in a human resources office environment
  • One year of previous front counter support experience in an office environment
  • Higher education or other public agency experience
  • Experience using Zoom and facilitating Zoom meetings including breakout rooms
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft/Oracle, Microsoft Office, and Google G Suite

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,442 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Salary Range: $3,276 - $5,148

SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-shot vaccine or two weeks after the first dose of a single-shot vaccine.

The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university’s secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU’s COVID-19 testing program
