The Mission of the Center for Workforce Development (CWD) at Roxbury Community College is to provide quality professional training for the residents of the Greater Roxbury and surrounding Boston metropolitan communities, skills upgrades for new and incumbent workers, and customized training for Businesses to help them reach their workforce goals. We offer a variety of short-term, non-credit training courses during the day and evening hours, and on weekends so students can attend training on a schedule that is convenient for them.

Job Description:

Looking for four Teaching Assistants for the Roxbury Community College Summer STEM camp. Teaching Assistants must be available from 9:00AM to 5:00PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday from 7/18/2022 to 8/18/2022.

Supervision Received: Reports to the STEM Program Coordinator

Salary $16/hour, for a max of 160 hours.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Escorting and supervising groups of 15 High School students during and between classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Provide assistance to classroom and laboratory instructors in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computers, Lego Robotics, and Math.
• Escorting and supervising High School students on group field trips on Thursdays.

Requirements:

• High school diploma and some college-level coursework required. Current Community College students
• Availability 9:00AM to 5:00PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7/18/2022 to 8/18/2022.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking and interpersonal communications.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to be responsible for completing all work assignments
• Able to work well with and give direction to high school students.
• Experience in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computers, Lego Robotics, and Math preferred, but not required.
• Ability to be compassionate and maintain a positive and encouraging attitude.
