The Opportunity
The University of Tennessee System Administration is currently seeking applications for a DASH - IT Software Developer IV in the Department of Technology Solutions.

The DASH - IT Software Developer IV leads technical design, modification, development, testing, and documentation of complex software solutions (purchased software, internally developed software, software modifications, and software interfaces/integrations) that execute independently or as part of a larger information system. Performs innovative, complex data conversion, report programming, design, testing, and debugging work related to the implementation, enhancement, and support of ERP modules. These modules include Human Resources, Payroll, Financial, Materials Management, Real Estate, Business Warehouse, and Workflows/business processes.

Position responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

    Modifies and implements software designs, oversees development of test plans and testing of software (in-house, purchased, or enhanced purchased software) solutions of high complexity. Builds interfaces/integrations between various software packages and/or applications. Develops reports using data from multiple sources, ensuring all data is synchronized and accurate. Analyzes business processes and prioritizes user development requirements to achieve maximum efficiency in software for projects committed. Develops technical documentation of development projects.Performs moderate- to-advanced-level problem analysis and debugging on software applications.Accomplishes these development activities systems with a significant level of independence.Communicates with functional team members and users to gather requirements and convey progress on tasks to facilitate an iterative application development life cycle. Stays abreast of changes to UT policy and state and federal regulatory changes to determine effects on software systems.Researches, trains, and leads new technology initiatives as requested. Coaches and collaborates with other programming staff on development techniques and practices.

Qualifications
Qualifications include

    Logic/programming skills required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills reruired.Ccustomer-service mindset required.Ability to translate user-requirements into a deliverable product independently with minimal technical supervision required.Programming/report development skills with SQL and Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) preferred.Expert understanding and usage of SQL and/or Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) or Microsoft Power BI preferred. Capable of interacting with multiple user groups to understand and identify requirements for software enhancements preferred. Exerpience coordinating with teams for report specifications and translate user requirements preferred.Implementation and usage of enhancement framework possibilities preferred. Understanding of interface/integration tools and techniques such as file transfer, ALE, EDI, API, XML and web services preferred. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to use debug and trace analysis techniques to troubleshoot preferred.Able to work productively and collaboratively in a team environment.Vocational or technical training required.Pprogramming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Oracle or Microsoft data-related or report developer certifications preferred
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilityMust have developed moderate to difficult software programs or reports/queries/dashboards from customer specifications to user sign-off.  Must have experience working with moderately complex relational databases, data models and data warehouses. Knowledge of Oracle or SQL Server databases is helpful. Business Intelligence Extraction, Transformation, Load (ETL) development and related technologies experience preferred.

Must demonstrate the ability to communicate information and ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.  Must follow directions and IT standards according to department protocols. Must demonstrate the ability to manage time, meet scheduled due dates and track the status of projects.  Must be able to multi-task where the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently is required.  Must have good customer service skills where application support, deployment and troubleshooting experience is required.  Must have the ability to work within a team and/or independently.

Compensation

Compensation for the position will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience withing the market range.

 

Candidate traditionally will have three (3) years of applicable programming or report/query/dashboard development experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Level 4)

Candidate traditionally will have two (2) years of applicable programming or report/query/dashboard development experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Level 3)

Candidate traditionally will have one (1) year of applicable programming or report/query/dashboard development experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Level 2)
