The Student Union at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for the position of AV/Lighting Tech. This is a temporary position, non-tenure track position. The Student Union provides an array of facilities and services in support of the university’s mission.

The Position:

An integral member of the Student Union team, the primary responsibility of the AV/Lighting Technician is to assist with setup and operate all audio-visual and lighting equipment in the auditorium. They will assist in maintaining the audio–visual inventory, as well as assist in the training and supervision of tech team members. They will support events with their audio–visual requirements. This position will work in conjunction with the Building Manager to provide addition al support for events.

What We Require:Education/Experience: High School diploma plus previous AV and lighting experience, currently employed or previously employed in a college environment.

What we Prefer:

Education/Experience: Associate degree and one to two years of AV/lighting experience.

Experience with light and sound boards.

    Ability to work with diverse constituencies.Appropriate business communications, including basic grammar, spelling, and formatting styles. Demonstrate skills of tactfulness and discretion.Demonstrate skills related to appropriate business communications.Ability to prioritize multiple work responsibilities in time-sensitive situations.Ability to create documents for specific audiences. Ability to summarize information to verify understanding. Ability to build relationships within and outside the department. Strong interpersonal skills, including strong oral, written, and listening communication capabilities.
Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
