Job Description Summary

Manages the day-to-day operations within the School of Divinity with a particular eye toward financial
affairs—operating budgets, prospective forecasting, and external grant management and student
employment, as well as assists the Dean of the Faculty to implement a strategic approach to enrollment
management and curricular enhancement.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Directly manages a team of others, usually exempt professional staff.

  • Collaborates with the Provost’s Office Director of Talent Management for all HR responsibilities within the Divinity School.

  • Leads by example with high personal expectations and appropriate advocacy for the department.

  • Contributes ideas and viewpoints on strategic and operational frameworks while considering annual divisional objectives and goals based on opportunities and constraints.

  • Manages operating budget and forecasting, including reporting and oversight for endowments, divinity programs, financial contracts, and student trip planning.

  • Collaborates with internal and external campus constituencies on a multitude of objectives not limited to grants, endowment forecasting and spend, scholarships/financial aid, restricted funds utilization and reporting, and memorandum of understandings.

  • Grant oversight and reporting, including financial contracts.

  • Prepare and manage MOUs, leases, and financial contracts.

  • Oversees scholarship distribution, working closely with Financial Aid.

  • Contributes to development plans and goals for the upcoming year for their team members.

  • Oversee internships and provide direction of student employees.

  • Assists other Directors and the Dean to implement a strategic approach to objectives such as enrollment management and curricular enhancement.

Other Functions:

  • This position will serve on the senior leadership team of the School and will be a strategic planning partner with the Dean and other Directors, providing financial leadership and insight.

  • Serves as department contact during large renovations.

  • Represents the School of Divinity on committees.

  • Partners with IS to maintain laptop/computer inventory and oversee upgrades, new orders.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of related administrative and financial experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, notably Excel, and the Google suite of software.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

  • Ability and willingness to make decisions.

  • Ability to present and display a professional demeanor at all times.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.

  • Ability to organize the workflow and coordinate activities.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience with Workday Finance & HCM modules.

  • Experience in higher education.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for own work.

  • Manages staff and/or student workers.

  • Budgetary responsibilities.
