This individual leads all aspects of daily, ongoing, and annual duties related to Clery Act compliance and develops plans, organizes, and directs efforts in response to changes in the law and changes in the organizational practices of various elements of the community.

  • Develop, implement, and administer action plans and strategies to ensure CU Boulder’s overall compliance and associated regulations.
  • Implement and develop policy and procedures through collaborative efforts with the campus community.
  • Maintain current and unique knowledge in the area of Clery Act compliance, including staying abreast of forthcoming changes in the law and Department of Education enforcement activities to determine the impact on CU Boulder, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Continuously evaluate program effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Identifies Campus Security authorities and provides, facilitates and manages their training and compliance with the Clery Act. Train key institutional partners on Clery Act requirements.
  • Chair the campus Clery Compliance Committee and other committees.
  • Work collaboratively with Campus Security Authorities and internal departments as liaison between FERPA, Title VII, Title IX, Higher Education Opportunity Act, Violence Against Women Act and Clery Act for the reporting and release of information to gather crime reporting statistical data for review and classification. Cross-check data from multiple reporting entities removing redundancies.
  • Compile Clery Act mandated statistics. Coordinate review of required policy statements. Draft the Annual Security Report and submit statistics to the Campus Safety and Security Survey.
  • Ensure CU Boulder maintains accurate records and complete audits related to Clery Act compliance.
  • Collaborates with Records staff in CUPD to ensure agency reports are accurately classified and Daily Crime Log is produced accurately.
  • Develop/maintain Clery Compliance Website.
Management of Records:
  • Manage all supporting records, digital and hard copy, used in compiling Clery and crime analysis documentation.
  • Ensure established archiving procedures are updated to reflect changing Clery Requirements.
  • Maintaining updated list of local law enforcement offices with contact information.
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of all buildings or land owned or controlled by CU Boulder.
  • Keep track of all Campus Security Authorities.
Training Facilitation and Support:
  • Design, develop, and deliver training materials for Campus Security Authorities across campus on an ongoing basis.
  • Update training materials and modalities.
What You Should Know

  • This position supports a hybrid work modality with the option to be primarily remote or primarily on-site and the ability to be on-site a few times per year.
  • This position may be required to answer phone calls outside of normal work hours.
  • This position will require a background investigation including a personal history questionnaire, criminal background check, polygraph, psychological exam, credit check, an Excluded Parties List System check, integrity interview, fingerprinting, and a reference check.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism; Communications; Public Relations; Information, Communication and Technology; Business Administration; Public Administration; Political Science; Management; Criminal Justice; or closely related field. Relevant experience will substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

  • Proficient in using desktop computer hardware/software and common administrative/office support software applications, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Proficient in data analysis software such as SPSS.
  • Project management skills including establishing and implementing organizational goals or objectives, including the use of statistical analysis.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • One year of experience with mandatory Clery reporting.
  • Experience working in higher education.
