General SummaryThe Head Overwatch coach is responsible for the overall success and performance of the Redbird Esports Varsity Overwatch team. The coach is responsible for coaching, planning, and coordinating the activities of the Varsity Overwatch team. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting high-level, academically eligible student-players; development of the team/players; coaching; supervision of Esports staff; management of the program travel and tournament participation; scheduling of scrimmages and official matches; and public relations/donor relations. The head coach is responsible for maintaining strict adherence to all Illinois State University and Esports Program policies, procedures, licensing standards and regulations.
Required Qualifications1. Master’s degree.
2. Minimum of two (2) years' experience coaching collegiate level or higher Overwatch.
3. Experience with Overwatch Collegiate Championship tournament.
4. Proven ability to recruit, train and develop high-level overwatch players.
5. Proven successful college Overwatch coaching experience.
6. Proven Contenders or higher coaching experience.
7. Esports organizational development and leadership experience
8. Familiarity with Activision Blizzard and Overwatch past/future outlook.
9. Possess valid driver's license
Varies based on competition and practices, generally evening hours
Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
