Position Summary:

The Success Advisor (Title III) facilitates students' successful transition to Mount Mary University and provides ongoing support for academic achievement and persistence through graduation. This staff member will provide pro-active, intentional, holistic support and guidance for students as part of the Student Success Center Team. A focus of this position will be specialized outreach and enhanced support for Title III eligible students (low-income, have academic needs).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management and facilitate successful interventions to increase students' likelihood of academic and personal success. Proactively identify and prioritize student retention concerns utilizing early alerts, referrals, probationary statuses, account holds, low mid-term grades, and other indicators. Coordinate intervention through effective, timely communication with faculty and staff partners.
  • Facilitate the creation of academic plans and goals by students; meet regularly to discuss progress and identify challenges and strategies for success.
  • Serve on Student Affairs or campus committees as assigned including the Student Outreach and Support Team (SOST) and Title III Committee.
  • Collaborate closely with the Career Specialist (Title III) on specialized outreach and programming for Title III eligible students.
  • Ensure Title III project compliance by successfully implementing student engagement strategies as outlined by the grant as well as tracking and reporting on student participation and progress.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • A Master's degree is required, preferably in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience working with a diverse college student population and providing pro-active academic guidance and personal support.
  • Understanding retention issues in higher education and the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing difficult and complex situations involving students.
  • Exceptional organization, records management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, computer competence, and knowledge of community resources and higher education.
  • 1+ years of related experience is required.
