SALARY AND BENEFITS:

$69,200 (minimum) - $89,900 (midpoint) per year. The posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU's compensation plan. RVU's full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

RVU offers a full benefits package that includes 401(k), Health, Dental and Vision insurance, along with 2 weeks accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee's contribution. A hybrid work model with remote flexibility is also available for eligible positions.

ABOUT ROCKY VISTA UNIVERSITY

Rocky Vista University is a rapidly growing accredited medical education institution with three campuses (Parker, CO, Ivins, UT, and Billings, MT). RVU has three graduate programs, the Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine, a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and a Master of Science in Biological Sciences, with a total enrollment of 1,400. Located in the southwestern corner of the state, Ivins is a small town just 120 miles from Las Vegas, NV. Recreation-lovers can enjoy abundant natural beauty in close proximity, including Snow Canyon State Park and Zion National Park.

Primary Purpose

Overall administration and coordination of the resources and activities of mental health and wellness services. Provides brief counseling/therapy to RVU students to address mental health, developmental, relational and other concerns.

Essential Job Functions
 

  1. Overall administration and coordination of the resources and activities of mental health and wellness services, including: strategic planning and goal setting; accreditation activities; identification and attainment of service objectives; resource allocation; program evaluation and research; counseling; outreach; consultation; and preventive mental health activities.
  2. In collaboration with the staff, development and implementation of the philosophy, policies, and procedures for mental health and wellness services operations.
  3. Coordination, recruitment, training, supervision, development, and evaluation of professional and administrative support staff.
  4. Preparation and administration of mental health and wellness services budget, the development of annual reports, and other documents that represent and advocate for the needs of counseling services, and the psychological and developmental needs of the university community.
  5. Participation in campus mental health policy formation and program development; serving on campus-wide committees; taking a leadership role in representing mental health and wellness services to other campus units.
  6. Administration of procedures that monitor the quality of all counseling and/or clinical services rendered by counseling services.
  7. Serve on the Campus Advocacy, Response, and Education (CARE) Team as a consultant regarding behavioral intervention with students of concern while maintaining confidentiality and ethical responsibility.
  8. Responsibility for providing crisis intervention, counseling, clinical supervision, outreach, group therapy and consultation services to the university community.
  9. Additional duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Student Affairs.

  1. Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as required.
  2. Participate in continuing education relative to the needs of the student population and network effectively with regional and national organizations
  3. Participate on University committees and regularly scheduled meetings as requested.

 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 

 

  1. Graduate-level knowledge in clinical and professional functioning, such as: diagnosis and assessment, counseling theory and practice, ethical issues, supervision, diversity, and research.
  2. Track record of leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff and students.
  3. Knowledgeable of the legal responsibility to report individuals at risk of harm to self/others as well as the legal and ethical responsibility to maintain strict informational boundaries.
  4. Ability to effectively represent mental health issues in the campus community.
  5. Ability to effectively interact with and gain the respect of counseling staff, colleagues, administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students.

 


Minimum Qualifications
 

 

  1. Earned doctorate or master's degree from a regionally accredited university, in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, counselor education, social work, marriage and family, or other closely related discipline.
  2. Must have had a supervised internship, supervised field placement, or equivalent as part of the requirement for the degree, which included clinical assessment, counseling and crisis intervention.
  3. 5 years' previous experience as a staff member in a clinical and/or counseling setting.
  4. Current, active licensure in the state of Colorado as a Psychologist, LPC, LMFT, or LCSW. With a willingness to be licensed within the state of UT within six months of employment.
  5. Demonstrated multicultural and diversity competency.

 


Preferred Qualifications
 

 

  1. Supervised internship, supervised field placement, or equivalent with a diverse college-age population.
  2. Prior experience in university counseling services.
