The Department of Biomedical Sciences is comprised of a dynamic and highly collaborative group working on a diverse array of problems and supported by state-of-the-art facilities and core infrastructure. The College of Medicine has a robust research portfolio that has doubled in research expenditures in the last 4 years. The College and the Department are continuing to expand its basic and translational research activities at the university.

The Research and Discovery mission of the College of Medicine is facilitated by more than 150,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art laboratory space and core labs in proteomics, genomics, advanced confocal, superresolution and multiphoton microscopy, flow cytometry, animal care, and cell culture. Research in the Department of Biomedical Sciences covers a broad spectrum of disciplines, offering a rich, diverse, and collegial environment. The Translational Science core Laboratory (https://med.fsu.edu/translationalLab/home) is equipped with state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and deep sequencing equipment. A 3T MRI system (Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma) is housed in a new MR facility at the College of Medicine. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will add to and integrate with the research programs of the existing 34 research faculty in Biomedical Sciences and with those in other Departments at FSU. Excellent mentoring and strong teaching skills are highly valued in the College of Medicine where faculty members participate in one or more aspects of medical, physician assistant, graduate, and undergraduate education.

This is a tenure earning position with research, teaching/mentoring, and service responsibilities.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) from an accredited institution.

Additional specific qualifications include:

• Excellent mentoring and strong teaching skills.
• Proven track record of excellence in creative approaches to Biomedical Research and extramural funding.
• A demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service; and professional goals which are consistent with the mission of our community-based medical school, as described on our website www.med.fsu.edu.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recruitment focus will be on infectious disease (broadly defined), metabolism, bioinformatics and pathology (broadly defined), but any area of expertise within the Biomedical Sciences will be considered.
• Evidence of interdisciplinary/collaborative research projects is a plus.
