Job Description:

Develop and manage P.K. Yonge digital and print communications-

  • Direct the preparation of yearly high-profile, official publications including the Florida Developmental Research School Annual Board of Governors’ Report, P.K. Yonge Annual Report
  • Direct production of the faculty edited Developmental Research School journal publication
  • Direct the preparation of printed materials to ensure consistency of style, presentation, and adherence to brand guidelines
  • Prepare submissions for College of Education Annual Report
  • Primary liaison with College of Education News and Communications and Development Office
  • Prepare written specifications for bids and negotiates and administers printing contracts
  • Provide technical editing production advice in the preparation of administrative publications, school publications, and policy document.
  • Responsible for alumni association communication
  • Responsible for school communications during times of crisis, including weather and health-related emergency situations

Lead and facilitate P.K. Yonge submissions for publication-

  • Review requests for publishing faculty manuscripts, research bulletins, research monographs
  • Review manuscripts to determine compliance with established standards and policies
  • Collaborate with University of Florida researchers to develop manuscripts for peer-refereed journals

Lead and manage P.K. Yonge information services-

  • Direct the design, development, and maintenance of the school website (serving both local school population and professional/research/outreach population)
  • Responsible for providing information, data, and timely reports/information to the school community, the public, the press, governmental agencies
  • Prepare and distribute regular school community emails (students and families,alumni, professional)
  • Provide monthly submissions to the College of Education EduGator newsletter
  • Act as press officer
  • Direct/manage school’s social media plan, adoption, and implementation
  • Direct/manage the internal and external communications plan
  • Prepare speeches for special events such as luncheons, conferences, dedications, and open houses
  • Present speeches to interested public and civic groups
  • Draft communications for school director and principal

Assist with communication and print materials for the school’s capital campaign assists with communication and print materials for the school’s capital campaign-

  • Consult, participate, assist in the institution’s capital campaign activities
  • Oversee production of capital campaign materials
  • Participate on efforts to engage private support for the school’s capital campaign under the direction of the College of Education’s development officer
  • May plan and direct programs to enhance public acceptance and participation in private support for the school/university.

Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to accomplish the responsibilities and functions of assigned area(s). May represent the institution on Systemwide or State committees, attend meetings and conferences related to development.

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
FDLE Background check required upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in communications; knowledge of strategic use of social media to promote brand; excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, project management experience, and proficient computer skills. Self-directed learner able to independently access university resources as needed to manage and lead projects.
