DelintContact Email:[email protected]Date Posted:05/21/2021Description:QUALIFICATIONS:•A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university•Experience in Freshman Orientation, Student Services, housing administration, supervision, training, or programming is preferred •Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment•Exemplifies good leadership skills, maintains professionalism, and has a positive attitude•Knowledge of residence life practices relevant to student housing facilities•Good problem solving skills•Ability to multitask, prioritize, and complete projects in a timely manner •Strong written and verbal communication skills•Strong interpersonal skills•Ability to manage emergencies and crisis situations •Excellent computer skills, including word processing and electronic software is required (e.g., Outlook Email and Microsoft Office: Word, Power Point, and Excel) •Ability to develop collaborative relationships with other collegiate departments•Assume responsibility for the operation of the assigned residence hallRESPONSIBILITIES:•Establish and maintain communication with students living in the residence halls/apartments through individual outreach and community meetings•Assist in directing programming activities for residential floors and halls•Schedule floor and desk hours•Conduct regular inspections of the residence hall•Ensure proper maintenance of the facility•Enforce rules and regulations•Serve as a mediator/facilitator when necessary to provide resolutions for interpersonal conflicts between students•Supervise Resident Assistants•Respond to crisis/emergency situations as they arise•Recommend personnel actions and report deficiencies to proper authorities •Complete all required reports in a timely and accurate manner•Notify administrators of any potentially dangerous equipment, practices, or violations of safety procedures•Attend meetings, workshops, and in-services as assigned •Assist with dorm or apartment renovations, as needed•Develop a knowledge of campus and community resources to ensure timely and efficient referrals when appropriateQUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS•DemonstratesoTrustworthinessoConfidenceoEnthusiasmoInitiativeoFlexibilityoSound work ethics•Proven SkillsoListening skillsoTeam playerSUPERVISION AND EVALUATION•Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Student Services Department in accordance with provisions of the Jarvis Christian College Administrative Policies & Procedures Manual.PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION•Success in the workplace depends on a strong commitment to the tasks assigned, respect for others and confidentiality in handling, and dealing with prospects, and sensitive constituent information•Honesty, integrity, and treating others with respect are expected at all times.•Good presentation skills which include, but not limited to, professional dress/business attire, and excellent verbal, as well as, written skillsPROFESSIONAL GROWTH•Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development, keeping current of best practices in area of responsibilityETHICAL BEHAVIOR•Adhere to the Jarvis Christian College Code of Ethics.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT•10 month position
