Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide classroom instruction for a full range of courses in Cybersecurity. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in following content areas: Fundamental Security Skills, Web Application Security, Firewall Technologies, Intrusion Detection Systems, Digital Forensics, and Ethical Hacking.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

Other duties include, but are not limited to, curriculum development and evaluation, committee assignments, student recruitment, program marketing and student club advising. This position requires strong organizational skills, communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver practical hands-on instruction. Must be accessible to students and maintain positive relationships with industry-related organizations and businesses. Must be willing to teach traditional, accelerated and hybrid courses within daytime and evening hours as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

1. Ability to deliver instruction using active learning methods which accommodate different learning styles including online modalities.
2. Ability to plan, select, prepare and implement appropriate active learning activities to meet all course competencies.
3. Ability to develop, utilize and/or update course competencies and summaries.
4. Good oral/written communication skills.
5. Ability to maintain competency in the occupational field.
6. Demonstrated ability and experience working with diverse populations.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with other colleagues and staff.
8. Working knowledge of computer concepts and incorporation of technology in the learning environment.

In-depth knowledge of:

  • Network administration, network infrastructure
    • Including security network design principles
  • Implementation and management of information security systems and practices
Functional knowledge of:
  • Network design and architecture
  • Information systems design and architecture
  • Virtualization, including cloud technologies
  • Server and client operating systems
    • Microsoft desktop
    • Microsoft Server
    • Linux
  • Wireless networking
    • Hardware and software architecture
    At least one team member must have the in-depth knowledge of:
    • Business continuity, disaster recovery and incident response
      • Backup strategies
    • Firewall and intrusion detection configuration and management

  • Penetration testing
  • Digital forensics
  • Application security
  • Mobile and web-based
  • Minimum Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS (Management Information Systems), Network Systems, Network Engineering, or Network/Software Security or related field.
    2. Twenty-four months (4000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience; Occupational area, of which 2,000 hours shall be within the previous five years. One year (2000 hours) of related experience in the appropriate field may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the occupational field within the last five years.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Seven years’ experience in a network related career
    2. Two years’ experience teaching information technology

    Position Hours
    This position is a full time, 1.0 FTE position that works on a flexible calendar year; days and times may vary. Courses are taught on the Pewaukee campus with some opportunities to teach remote.

    Salary
    Salary is listed at the 2022-2023 salary range. Salary will be determined based on credited experience and internal equity.
