We especially encourage women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans and people with disabilities to apply.Description:Reporting to the Director of Residential Education and First Generation Initiatives, the Resident Director is a professional, 12-month, live-in position responsible for supporting the mission of the University by developing residential living environments conducive to student learning and academic success, respecting, appreciating and advocating for the diversity of our student population, and supporting the holistic development of approximately 3,500 campus residents.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Manages a residential area of 200 to 560 residents.
•Supervises the professional development of Resident Assistants and/or Graduate Assistants.
•Liaises with administrators, faculty and staff.
•Develops specialized programming in the residence halls, which may include the management and growth of Living Learning Communities (LLC’s).
•Actively participates in the student conduct process.
•Oversees hall government.
•Actively participates in staff recruitment, selection and training activities.
•Manages residence hall facility and occupancy issues, and campus critical incident response.
•Serves in an on-duty rotation.
•Supports large-scale campus events.
•Other duties, as needed.

Some evening and weekend work is required.

Qualifications:•Master’s degree required.
•Direct or transferable experience or comprehensive knowledge of Residential Life.
•An established record of accomplishment promoting student development programs and cultivating positive relationships that cultivate a comprehensive student-centered organization.
•Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability and willingness to exhibit good professional judgement, good computer skills and the ability to work in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, social justice education or a related field.
•Higher education administration experience.
•Strong counseling skills.
•Supervisory experience.
•A passion for, and experience with, working with students, families and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
