Job Details
The Administrative Assistant for the School of Education (SOE) reports to the Dean of the School of Education and is responsible for providing administrative support to faculty in the SOE and coordinating the administrative activities. He/she is responsible for establishing, coordinating and monitoring the day-to-day operating procedures of the School; assisting in preparing and monitoring the budget; handling all incoming telephone inquiries; and maintaining appointment calendar. Maintain performance information on candidates in the teacher education program. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, compose letters and memorandums, and record and transcribe meeting minutes; schedule meetings and other activities in support of the School of Education; maintain supply inventory, records and filing system; and prepare purchase requisitions for organizational requests and tracks the approval process.
QualificationsHigh school diploma required and an associate degree in secretarial science or a related discipline is strongly preferred. Candidate must be knowledgeable of office practices and procedures, proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have some knowledge of other automated systems. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the general public in disseminating and obtaining information and completing assigned tasks; develop and manage a recordkeeping system; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Previous senior level experience working as a secretary or an office manager preferred.
