Position Summary:

Governors State University is seeking to hire a Project Manager to be responsible for the intake and completion of all marketing projects, including but not limited to print collateral, web updates, social media requests, and e-blasts. This role serves as the liaison to both internal clients and external vendors, working to meet institutional needs within time and budgetary requirements. They will report on project status/ workload and provide timely communication between relevant departments. The Project Manager works to meet desired client outcomes by creating recommendations for collateral. They obtain quotes from vendors, ensure that Procurement processes are met. Additionally, this role also works with the Offices of Procurement and Accounts Payable to maintain bookkeeping for marketing and advertising expenditures.

Essential Responsibilities:
25 % Serves as primary liaison to graphic design team and web team for university-wide project requests and completion, including task assignments and follow-through.
20% Reviews and edits content requested for projects, checking for grammatical edits, brand voice/tone, and audience messaging.
15 % Monitors and reports status of projects both at the overall view and to individual departments.
10 % Works with web, social media, and editorial team members to maintain and develop content as needed for content calendar.
10 % Facilitates requests for business cards for university employees.
5 % Continuously updates external marquees and internal monitor screens to provide fresh and relevant information.
5 % Communicates with print shop and external vendors to obtain quotes and provide deliverables.
5 % Maintains bookkeeping including but not limited to invoices for advertising and marketing expenses.
5 % Attends university events and provides support as needed.

Starting Salary: $50,992.50.
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIRED: COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS, WHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION (See “Special instructions to applicants” section below).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Relations or related field.
  • One (1) year of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.
  • One (1) year of experience in web content updating and management, including utilizing a Content Management System.

Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Desired Education and Experience Master’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of marketing and communications or higher education experience.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
