Department DescriptionThe Procurement Service Center (PSC) provides leadership to the University of Colorado in the procurement of goods and services and in paying debts to vendors and travelers by combining sound business controls with efficient and timely service. The functional areas of the PSC include Purchasing Services, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Relationship Management, Payable Services, Commercial Card Program, Travel Program, Small Business Program, Contract Services, and Procurement Systems. PSC is the system owner of CU Marketplace and Concur Travel and Expense.Position DescriptionThe University of Colorado is an internationally known public research university serving Colorado, the nation and the world through leadership in high quality and professional training, public service, advancing research and knowledge, and state-of-the-art health care. The University of Colorado's (CU) Procurement Service Center (PSC) is a nationally recognized procurement office dedicated to using technology to enhance the University's programs and create efficiencies within policies system wide. The PSC supports the entire CU community, which includes four campuses plus system administration. The BI Analyst provides meaningful and actionable data analytics, reporting, and business intelligence regarding the University’s procurement activities. This position is part of the Business Intelligence team that supports the procurement data needs across the University, including monthly performance reports, ad-hoc reporting, and metrics reporting. This position works with University clients to fully understand their data needs and provide recommendations and solutions. This position provides business intelligence to assist in effective procurement decision making, internal workflow and process optimization, and data management. The BI Analyst will report to the Director of Procurement Operations and Shared Services and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff System.COVID-19

- Ensure data storage and data flow mapping are efficiently and effectively managed to allow a high degree of automation of reporting, data presentation formats, and analytics.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize data cleansing protocols for the PSC and applicable data.
- Query data from multiple internal and external sources to support routine and ad hoc analytics and reporting needs.
- Field ad hoc reporting requests from across the entire University, clarify the business need of the request, and provide business intelligence regarding the reporting.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile any discrepancies to ensure consistency of reporting procurement data.
- Document all PSC reporting processes.
- Develop and maintain data visualization and analytics tools.
- Identify opportunities to enhance tools based on internal and external stakeholder input.
- Assist in the development of project plans, business requirements, and business cases for PSC projects and initiatives.
- Communicate findings and results to stakeholders and project members
- Assist team members and clients with timely problem reporting and resolution.
- Maintain appropriate follow-up communications and manage expectations effectively.
- Provide support for end users of legacy reports as well as business intelligence tools.
- Assist in the development of end-user training materials as needed.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent professional experience. (The educational requirement may be substituted by professional experience on a year for year basis).
- Three (3) years’ experience with data analytics, business intelligence and database management.
- Five (5) years experience, as stated above.
- Experience managing large datasets from multiple sources, and synthesizing datasets into usable formats
- Experience with Cognos, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
- Experience in Higher Education
- Experience working in a procurement organization
