The Departments of Languages and Cultures, and Anthropology in the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a Finance and HR Professional. This position will provide academic, financial, and business-related services to the L&C and Anthropology Departments to support the department’s teaching, research and outreach activities by creating systems and efficiencies and internal controls in the accounting, budget, personnel, and office administration systems.

Within the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (LAS), the Departments of Languages and Cultures, and Anthropology exist to provide high quality education while preserving the teaching intent of a liberal arts education; to encourage the College's faculty and graduate/undergraduate students to produce research; to respond to the educational and intellectual needs of the community and serve as a forum to carry out university and community service.

This position supports the education and research in LAS in the departments of Languages and Cultures and Anthropology by assisting the department chairs in coordination of administrative and academic goals as primary liaison between office and faculty, staff and community, and monitors department accounts.

Job Duties

    Manage technical budget processes, purchasing and requisitions in support of the department teaching, research, and outreach activities.

    Serve as Program Fiscal Manager in preparing budget, overseeing compliance.

    Anticipate, track, and organize budget and operational needs.

    Oversee, interpret, and adjust journals for general funds, start-up, revenue, gift, outreach and Sponsored Programs on a monthly basis.

    Processing contracts, monthly, bi-weekly, and hourly pay.

    Payroll tracking.

    Job terminations.

    Hiring, processing, and tracking varieties of instructor overloads, lecturers, student employees, GTAs, volunteers and POIs.

    Reporting responsibilities: audits, logs, Late Pay, Job List, Cherwell, HCM (Human Resource Management).

    Creating processes and procedures.

    Front desk presence to assist, support and provide first-contact for/to the university, college, administration, faculty, students, staff, and general public.

    Create, organize, and manage administrative documents.

    Monitor, coordinate and communicate the strategic objectives of the department.

    Collaborate and communicate successfully with other entities outside of the department and university.

    Manages and administers grants and sponsored projects.

    Purchasing of supplies.

    Attends HR, finance, college, staff, and department meetings and other relevant trainings as needed.

Work Location: Typically, 50% on campus, 50% remote; this will be based on the semester-to-semester need of the department, will also be determined by the supervisor.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $40,014 - $51,747.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Tentative Search Timeline:

    The priority deadline for applicaitons is June 28, 2022. 

    The potential dates for first-round interviews will be July 5- July 15, 2022.

    The potential dates for final interviews with the search committee will be the week of July 18, 2022.

    The potential employee start date is August 1, 2022.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree

      Progressive professional experience can substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year for year basis

    One year of financial and business support experience that includes: understanding budget reports and making appropriate journal adjustments as necessary; financial tracking and reporting and processing human resource actions

Preferred Qualifications:

    Excel spreadsheet experience

    HR experience

    PeopleSoft and HCM or similar software experience

    Higher education experience

    Grant experience: manage grant proposals; monitoring grant expenditures

    Procurement of supplies and employee reimbursement experience

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required move. Employee may occasionally be required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
