Systems and Analytics Librarian, Dahlgren Memorial Library - Georgetown University

The Systems and Analytics Librarian (SAAL) is the in-house technical expert for all of the Dahlgren Memorial Library (DML) applications, data management and identity management processes in support of the research, education and patient care missions of DML and Georgetown University Medical Center. The SAAL at DML has a mission-critical role with responsibilities that support of the education, research and patient-care missions of the Georgetown University Medical Center, Dahlgren Memorial Library and MedStar/Georgetown University Hospital.

Work Interactions

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean for Resources & Access Management, Dahlgren Memorial Library, the Systems and Analytics Librarian supervises students and Hoya Temp staff as assigned, and plays a significant role in linking / integrating DML resources into the research process and the curriculum by:
  • Designing and maintaining crucial analytical statistical reports to demonstrate library value and impact to the community and for use in evidence-based decision making by DML senior management and external parties in Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC)
  • Integrating knowledge resources and library identity management into existing and new GUMC initiatives towards open science, data management and clinical partnerships for a streamlined user experience
  • Providing second level technical support services for unique health sciences library applications, computing and resources [via in-person one-on-one and in group sessions and classes; by phone; by email; and via virtual chat sessions] to the students, faculty, staff and researchers of the GUMC, including the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing & Health Studies, the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Biomedical Graduate Research Organization, and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH)
  • Serving on various GUMC, DML and intra-campus committees, teams and task forces as assigned
  • Serving as liaison between DHL, University Information Systems, MGUH Information Technology, the Law Center and Main Campus library resource departments, and resource vendors
  • Supporting systems that improve the user research experience - such as Document Delivery and the DML website


Qualifications
  • Library Science, Information Science, Computer Science or other relevant Master's degree from an accredited institution. [Note: candidates scheduled to receive a relevant degree within the next six months are welcome to apply.]
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written skills, and ability to communicate clearly and effectively and work well with diverse members of an academic medical center community, including co-workers
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems management and integration, including applications, federated authentication and data for a library or similar organization
  • Strong service orientation
  • Willingness to learn new skills and to quickly adapt to changes in technology and the academic environment
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail; excellent organizational and project management skills; and ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment


Preferred qualifications
  • Experience supporting the research, teaching and clinical efforts of an academic health and life science community
  • Familiarity with Tableau, Google Data Studio or similar data visualization product
  • Web site management and programming experience
  • Competence in managing client/server environments, data and web applications
  • Supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of system, data and metadata standards in a library or university setting
  • AHIP (Academy of Health Information Professionals) accreditation (must pursue accreditation if hired)


Preferred qualification

Knowledge of library/information integration into Electronic Medical Record/Health Electronic Record [EMR/HER]
