Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Managing Director of Programs & Impact will both provide technical support for university-wide grants and programmatic support for the activities sponsored by those grants.  
Technical support may include management of pre-award grant processes, financial and process oversight, management support for OVPR’s grant portfolio. The position also oversees and coordinate reporting on pre-award and post-award grant management activities. The position requires a strong customer service orientation, and the incumbent must possess the ability to interpret and apply University, College and sponsor policies and procedures.
Programmatic support may include the implementation of key initiatives and programs across the research enterprise. Collaborates with the OVPR team and its partner organizations to plan, organize, and execute programs and supports research, project evaluation, and reporting. The Managing Director will also represent OVPR at meetings, and other events with stakeholders and sponsors as needed.


Essential Functions of Positions:
•    Collaborates with the OVPR team and its partner organizations to plan, organize, and execute internal and external grant programs
•    Coordinating and monitoring externally funded grants and contracts involving all pre-award activities, including compliance with granting agencies and university policies
•    Serving as the primary liaison to faculty on the pre-award process and related policies and procedures
•    Developing budgets for pre-award submissions with relevant partners
•    Review and approval of grant expenditures, including financial management (creation and submission of financial reports)
•    Review and implementation of all contract requirements
•    Coordination and submission of progress reports, final closeout and reconciliation
•    Providing ad-hoc and regular pre-award financial reports and projections to faculty and administration and handling other grant management  
•    Represent OVPR at meetings, and other events with stakeholders and sponsors as needed

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of related experience.  Master’s, MBA, or PhD preferred. 
Experience in higher education, research, management, and/or leadership. Demonstrated project management; analysis of longitudinal and cross-sectional data (i.e., qualitative and quantitative); grant writing and/or research manuscript preparation.  
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
•    Excellent organization and project management along with the ability to achieve strategic objectives.
•    Strong writing and editing skills, along with the ability to convey information about complex issues both verbally and in writing using data and reasoning.
•    Ability to manage many projects, simultaneously, in collaboration with several internal and external team members.
•    Ability to think strategically, identify potential problems, innovate, and provide proactive solutions.
•    Ability to foster collaborative relationships and identify potential for collective impact.
•    Must be able to work independently and exercise independent judgment. 
•    Expertise in data management and analysis, with knowledge about study design and analysis techniques.
•    Ability to use advanced features of Excel (e.g., vlookup, pivot tables) or data analysis software (e.g., SPSS) to advance understanding of data.
•    Proficiency with standard software (Office suite, SharePoint, communication and survey platforms).
•    Ability to generate reports for funding agencies and the general public that capture program outcomes.
•    Excellent time management skills, with a commitment to reliability, dependability, and meeting deadlines.

Preferred:
•    Advanced degree (e.g. Master’s or doctoral degree).
•    Experience in grant-writing and/or developing peer-reviewed research articles.
•    Experience in higher education or higher-education adjacent organization, such as a nonprofit or foundation.
•    Experience in project management or program management roles.

This position is partially grant-funded.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
