Job Summary

The School of Arts & Sciences seeks dynamic applicants for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. This is an academic year (10-month) position beginning on August 1, 2022.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities -
-Teach courses primarily in educational foundations and elementary education level pedagogy for preservice teachers. Be willing to teach middle grades/secondary education courses as needed.
-Travel to, supervise and mentor teacher candidates in clinical field experiences.
-Prepare syllabi that align with course learning outcomes; implement research-informed and practice-based learning experiences with teacher candidates; and assess course learning outcomes in a variety of informal, formal, and performance-based means.
-Participate in academic advisement; engage in service at the department and institutional level; attend weekly departmental meetings; and collaborate closely with faculty and PK-12 partners to support the success of our programs and students.
-Teaching in hybrid or virtual modes may be required.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
-Doctoral degree in Education from an accredited institution.

Other Required Qualifications
-Must possess a current valid drivers license with acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review.

Required Experience
-Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience with PK-12 students.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
-Experience in elementary education, early literacy, special education, social emotional learning, or culturally and linguistically diverse education.
-Working knowledge of child and adolescent development; standards-based curriculum design; evidence-based and differentiated instructional approaches; and classroom assessment.
-Teacher candidate field supervision experience.
-Evidence of successful teaching in teacher preparation
