Oregon Tech is seeking an Academic Advising & Retention Coordinator to provide academic advising and faculty support to the College of Health, Arts with the development, coordination, and implementation of retention initiatives to ensure student success. Responsible for providing students with educational guidance and assistance through graduation.

Under shared supervision from the Dean for the College of HAS or the Dean of the College of ETM and the Director of Advising & Retention, the College/Major Advisor performs complex professional student advising. Requires the application of both professional knowledge and judgment, as well as experience, to apply the principles, techniques and skills characteristic of student advising and retention services. Services offered will be available to students at the Klamath Falls campus as well as the various satellite locations.

Additionally, incumbent will assist the Advising and Retention Director with the planning, implementation and evaluation of Oregon Tech initiatives; eliminate equity gaps and decrease time to degree, promote access, academic achievement, and graduation of undergraduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience, background or demonstrated interest in a related field of study
  • Successful experience enforcing and explaining complex academic policies
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop advising and retention strategies using data-driven decision making based on complex data analytics
  • Experience working with staff, faculty and administrators in higher education

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to Oregon Tech college applying for position in
  • Experience advising upper division students within a college, performing analytics and promoting retention strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively develop initiatives with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences through various mediums
  • Experience counseling, advising, and/or mentoring college students with declared majors
  • Experience with student success initiatives
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in data analytics with ability to create complex spreadsheets and develop initiatives based on the data
