Executive Director for Community Standards and Student Advocacy

Position Summary:

Reporting to Dean of Students (Dean), the Executive Director of Community Standards and Student Advocacy (Executive Director) provides leadership for institutional efforts to promote a safe and secure environment while upholding the rights of all community members. The Executive Director administers the Student Code of Conduct and serves as a hearing officer for non-academic misconduct cases; selects, trains, and evaluates administrative hearing officers; chairs the Student Conduct Committee; and creates opportunities for student learning and development. The Executive Director also advocates for and with students as they navigate university policies & procedures, specifically student grievances/complaints and emergency/medical leaves, and serves on the Campus Threat Assessment and Emergency Response Teams. In addition, the Executive Director annually reviews the Student Handbook and other relevant policies and procedures and assists with office and divisional assessment efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field.· Minimum of five (5) years full-time professional administrative experience in higher education focusing on student conduct, residence life, or a related field.· Understanding of student conduct processes and procedures, current student conduct issues and trends, Title IX requirements, higher education law, and student development theory required.· Demonstrated experience working with behavioral intervention or threat assessment teams and supporting/responding to students in distress or crisis.· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from underrepresented and underserved populations.· Demonstrated experience working with faculty and staff in their roles as hearing officers.· Commitment to fostering student learning, social justice, restorative justice, and community values.· Independent judgment, critical management, and time management skills.· Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Knowledge of student conduct database administration, i.e. Maxient.· Ability to solve problems and work effectively in a fast past environment.· Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to generate and manage workgroups and projects.· Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines to deal with competing demands.· Excellent organizational and communication skills for internal and external interactions.
