Starting Salary Range: $60,189 to $92,390 per year, salary placement determined by documented education and experience; maximum initial salary step placement on the faculty salary schedule is step 9.

Cabrillo College provides a doctoral stipend of $4,018 per year for eligible contract faculty.

About the Position: The full-time, one (1) year, temporary contract position for the 2022-2023 academic year pursuant to Ed Code 87481/82, under the direction of the Radiologic Technology faculty program director, the Clinical Coordinator is a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and program clinical affiliates. There may be additional training days to be scheduled with candidate prior to start date as listed in this job bulletin.

About the Department: This two (2) year Associate in Science Degree program provides professional training for radiologic technologists. Radiologic technologists work in a professional environment at a hospital, clinic or private office. Skill categories include patient care, positioning, operating radiographic equipment, image quality assessment, technical factors and interacting with the general public, ancillary workers and physicians.
The Health and Wellness facilities house all of the Allied Health programs, including a Radiologic Technology (RT) "smart-classroom" and a five (5) station laboratory with two (2) radiologic and fluoroscopic digital systems. The RT Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the State of California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch. This program has earned the highest level of accreditation awarded by the JRCERT.

Beginning Date: Position scheduled to begin in August 22, 2022, pending Governing Board ratification. Assignment may include distance education courses, may be schedule over summer and/or winter months, and may be at various campus locations; days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Examples of Duties

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Teach assigned Radiologic Technology lecture and laboratory courses , which may include evening or off-campus assignments
  • Presenting and demonstrating subject material as designated in assigned course(s)
  • Participate in participatory governance committees, processes, and initiatives such as Guided Pathways
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, academic progress, and ongoing evaluations as well as scheduling midterm and final exams in accordance with program/college policies
  • Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours
  • Attendance at advisory committee, department, clinical instructor and division meetings
  • Developing agendas and meeting announcements for regularly scheduled clinical instructor meetings
  • Contributing toward curriculum development/revision
  • Providing students and department with course syllabus, and maintaining records in
    online student tracking system for clinical education.
  • On-going maintenance of student clinical documentation in compliance with the California Department of Public Health – Radiation Health Branch
    (CDPH-RHB), and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
  • Serving as the Radiation Safety Officer for the RT department in compliance with the approved (CDPH-RHB) Radiation Safety Plan
  • Ensuring each student maintains clinical procedure logs, are rotated to and within clinical education centers to meet clinical education objectives
  • Ensuring that clinical education effectiveness through a schedule of regular site visits to the clinical education centers and prepare reports of each visit that are submitted to the program director
  • Maintaining current knowledge of program policies and procedures
  • Maintaining competency in the professional discipline and in instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development
  • Assisting in the process of maintenance for equipment and facilities
  • Cooperate with and participate as may be required in District investigations and/or student grievance matters of alleged unlawful harassment, discrimination, and retaliation
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
  • Complete required District trainings such as Title IX, Mandated Reporter, EEO/Diversity/Elimination of Bias, Workplace Safety, etc.
  • Working at various locations, including but not limited to hospitals and other clinical sites
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation, of community college students, faculty and staff, AND
  • Any bachelor’s degree or higher AND two (2) years of professional experience OR
  • Any associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience (if the selected candidate qualifies with only an Associate's degree our accreditation standards require that the candidate be willing to start and complete any bachelor's degree to comply), OR
  • *Equivalent (see below for details) OR
  • Possess a lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential in Radiologic Technology
  • Position-Specific Required Licensure (to be included on the application under Certificates and Licenses):

    • Possession of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) current registration in radiography AND
    • Possession of a current California State Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) Certificate AND
    • Possession of a current California State Fluoroscopy permit

    Position-Specific Requirements:

    • Proficiency in supervision, curriculum development, instruction, evaluation and academic advising in the Radiation Science area

    • Knowledge of Radiologic Technology program goals, program assessment and understand didactic, laboratory and clinical competency objectives
    • Two (2) years recent clinical experience in the professional discipline
    • Minimum of one (1) year recent experience as an instructor in a JRCERT- accredited program
    • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California driver’s license and safe driving record during the course of employment in order to drive to various locations, including but not limited to hospitals and clinical sites.

  • Desired Qualifications/Performance Expectations:
  • Successful teaching experience in radiologic technology
  • Expertise and interest in teaching the full spectrum of community college radiology technology courses
  • Experience with or willingness to explore innovative teaching methodologies
  • ARRT certifications in additional modalities such as :Mammography certificatiom. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification, and Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Successful teaching experience in the subject area at the community college level
  • Demonstrated ability to employ innovative teaching techniques and methodologies
  • Successful online teaching experience
