Student Engaement Coordinator

Salary will be $42,000-$50,000 based on experience 
The Student Engagement Coordinator will contribute to the mission of the College of Communication and Information’s (CCI) re-envisioned Undergraduate Programs unit, currently home to the Advising Center and Career and Professional Development Office. The Undergraduate Programs area also supports student recruitment, study abroad, and student engagement. The student services professional in this role will have a broad scope from which to impact student engagement and success in the college.

This position will contribute to the development of strategies and processes for undergraduate student engagement initiatives with a specific focus on career development, student recruitment, and study abroad. The Student Engagement Coordinator will recruit new students to the college through innovative recruitment methods and will independently plan and execute events and programs aimed at student engagement, retention, and success

Qualifications
Responsibilities:

Pre-collegiate Engagement

Advise prospective students on CCI majors and student engagement opportunities within the college.  Recruit students by attending college fair programs, visiting high schools, participating in campus recruitment activities, and/or other recruitment activities. Develop and execute a targeted outreach plan for admitted UTK students who are interested in CCI to encourage them to confirm their enrollment and matriculate. Lead efforts for outreach and programming with targeted high schools to promote CCI, including developing and conducting on-campus visits, workshops and other opportunities for high school students. Co-lead and direct Land Ambassadors, our student ambassador program. Develop, plan and implement a coordinated CCI campus visit program.

Career and Professional Development

Develop and execute signature CCI Career Development events and programs in alignment with best practices. Correspond with industry partners interested in recruiting CCI interns and graduates. Collaborate with the Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration to ensure programs and services are aligned with the University’s mission. Use technology such as Qualtrics and Excel to compile career readiness data, internship participation data, and student engagement data in alignment with national standards. Serve as primary liaison to college-specific student organizations.

The Student Engagement Coordinator will have the opportunity to develop, plan and execute student engagement events pertaining to 6 Weeks of Welcome and Study Abroad. The Student Engagement Coordinator will speak to students about the many engagement opportunities in the college through class talks and outreach presentations, and will collect data related to experience learning activities within CCI.

Education:
    Master’s degree required.  Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, or Communication and Information field preferred.
Required Skills and Experience:- Ability to work with a diverse group of students and coworkers within the College.

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize task completion in a timely manner.

- Ability to travel within the state of Tennessee and region to recruit for the College.

- Ability to work independently.

- Ability to present engagingly and effectively to large groups.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge of student engagement and success principles/techniques in higher education.

- Knowledge of student development theory as it relates to student engagement and success, academic advising and/or career development.
