Postdoctoral Research Associate

University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, Knoxville, TN

The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research in insect physiology.

The successful candidate will be expected to work under the supervision of the laboratory leader on a project to develop insecticidal technologies against fall armyworm. The candidate will be expected to maintain detailed notebooks, curate and analyze data, organize and present progress reports to funding groups, and lead manuscript preparation to publish the results from the work.  Participation in alternative collaborative research projects is also possible and encouraged.



Qualifications
Qualifications:

    Ph.D. in Entomology or a related disciplineDemonstrated expertise with development and performance of insect bioassays, molecular biology (DNA and RNA purification, PCR, electrophoresis, cloning), gene silencing/expression and histology.Applicants should excel in establishing and maintaining precise records and maintain good laboratory practices and procedures.  Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essentialSuccessful candidate will be required to undergo mandatory safety training to work with radioactive and biological materials. Publication record will be considered.Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
