The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time, non-exempt Financial Associate in the Department of Business Analytics and Statistics.  Reporting to the Assistant Department Head, the Financial Associate functions as a vital member of the department's administrative support team serving as accounting manager for the department's financial processes.

Responsibilities:

    Collaborate with department leadership on annual budget preparation process, providing expert guidance and detailed budget status informationManage all budget and financial processes for department including budget preparation, forecasting, and analysisPossess a deep and broad understanding of department budget situation at all timesPropose to the Department Head an initial annual budget and follow up with detailed budget reports on a monthly basisCreate advanced reports including pivot tables and custom metricsProvide a summary presentation after the close of the fiscal year on the previous year's spendingCoordinate with department faculty and OSP to accurately manage post-award sponsored-project (grant) accountingTrack and compile funding and expenditure data and provide status reports and analysis to department leadershipCoordinate with Financial Information Office to ensure compliance with all college-level processesProactively identify and inform Department Head of potential budget issues and recommend solutionsProcess all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement card transactions for department, ensuring compliance with fiscal policyComplete, keep current, and timely submit all payroll documents for department personnelExecute all internal financial processes for department, including but not limited to account transfers, scholarship authorizations, reimbursements, and preapprovalsProactively seek, recommend, and implement systems to streamline departmental financial processesEnsure timely communication to faculty and staff regarding changes/developments in policies affecting financial aspects of travel, payroll, scholarships, purchasing, etc.Provide excellent customer service in person and via phone/email to internal and external stakeholders and partnersOrganize and maintain office files, including shared e-files, and ensure compliance with record retention policies


Qualifications
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications and Experience:

    High School diploma or GEDMinimum 3 years of professional experience in bookkeeping, accounting, financial management, or related field
Desired Qualifications and Experience:

    Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related fieldAt least 5 years in a position requiring similar bookkeeping/accounting/financial management/administrative skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:

    Knowledge of financial, bookkeeping, and accounting principles, procedures and systems
    Advanced computer skills including ability to quickly learn new software systemsAbility to work independently with limited supervisionAdvanced knowledge of ExcelExcellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse communityAbility to gather data, compile information, and prepare reportsAbility to use tact and discretion when dealing with a variety of issuesAbility to multitask and prioritizeAbility to protect and maintain confidential information
Preferred:

    Experience with SharePoint and Google DriveExperience with Pivot Tables
