Description:
The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, one of 12 Schools in a highly ranked institution, is dedicated to the integration of interdisciplinary research, education, and practice. We invite PhD prepared individuals to apply to the standing faculty (tenure track and clinician educator) at junior and senior ranks. Postdoctoral training or academic experience is preferred. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The School of Nursing seeks to recruit faculty with expertise in promoting the health of diverse populations, in managing complex care needs, in precision science, data science, and implementation science to meet our overarching priorities and to contribute to the health of individuals, families, and communities.
A Clinician Educator possesses an emerging local reputation as an outstanding clinician in their area or expertise. As such, practice experience is expected, as is a research doctorate. A Clinician Educator is a nurse scientist who is knowledgeable on the design and execution of studies, the transition from quality improvement to research, and putting evidence into practice. They also serve as a mentor and coach to nurses and interdisciplinary teams who wish to engage in research activities. Promise of teaching excellence and curricular efforts is also essential to the role. Priority will be given to candidates whose scholarship is informed by health equity and/or the social determinants of health. Candidates should able to contribute to the strengthening of nursing education by integrating these concepts into our core undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The role may include direct patient care (practice is widely defined) or the practice of research, leading the development of clinical practice guidelines, directing and participating in research teams, overseeing the scholarship of advanced practice nurses, leading and participating in scientific publications and presentations, and serving as a primary mentor to Fellows in their specific clinical area.
