SIUE is pleased to announce Open Recruitment/Testing for Steam and Power Plant Operator III for the FY23 year.

The Steam and Power Plant Operator III is responsible for the operation and maintenance of building heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment on the University’s campus. Employees in these positions will operate and maintain campus utilities such as gas, water, and power along with operate building systems such as life safety, elevators, swimming pools, plumbing, and electrical. Additional duties for the Steam and Power Plant Operator III include but are not limited to:
-Responding to hot/cold calls;
-Responding to and investigating building alarms;
-Monitor energy management system and taking various readings as needed.

The hours for positions of this classification are rotating shifts, Monday through Sunday, 40 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours will be required. Eligible candidates will need to be available for all assigned shifts. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

1. Two (2) years (24 months) of experience in the maintenance and operation of steam and power plant equipment.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to the next lower level of the series.
3. Possession of current/valid licenses and certificates, as required by the employing institution.
