The SERVE Center is a university-based research, development, dissemination, evaluation, and technical assistance center. Through customized research and evaluation services, SERVE delivers actionable insights for both policymakers and practitioners. From large-scale experimental studies to small-scale qualitative work on topics ranging from early childhood to high school reform, SERVE builds the capacity of educators and policymakers to improve educational outcomes for students of all ages. http://www.serve.org. This position is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of SERVE. It is responsible for the creation and refining of the vision of the Center, serving as the liaison between the Center and external funding agencies, acting as spokesperson for the Center, and works with the staff of SERVE to sustain and grow the research endeavor for the center as well as the funding of the programs offered.

Flexibility in the physical work location may be considered but a portion of the work and meetings will require work being performed in the Greensboro office on occasion. The position will be based in Greensboro, NC with technical assistance and coordination activities in the western and/or eastern regions of NC. The position requires extensive travel, mainly in NC but occasionally out of state.
SERVE houses the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE), the U.S. Department of Education’s information and technical assistance center in the area of homeless education. As an extension of this SERVE manages the NC Homeless Education Program that implements the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2001 (Title X, Part C of the No Child Left Behind Act, P.L. 107-110) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015.

• Master’s Degree in education, social work, or related field or a Bachelor’s Degree
• 4 years experience as a homeless liaison, or;
• Must have 3-5 years experience in working with homeless or at-risk children.

• Capacity to organize and manage multiple tasks,
• Be able to work with a variety of clients and stakeholders from varying backgrounds,
• Think analytically, and have excellent writing skills.
• Technological proficiency and interest in utilizing state-of-the-art technology for training and technical assistance,
• Ability to plan, conduct and facilitate conferences and meetings.
