General Summary

The Associate Coordinator of Residence Life will support and develop the residential community at Indiana Tech. The Associate Coordinator of Residence Life will help to enhance the conduct and social growth of the student body primarily focusing on upper-class and returning student residents. This individual will reside on campus to facilitate a full integration to the campus community and assist with on-call duty and crisis response Additionally, this individual will provide support and assistance to both the Student Services and Student Life areas on campus. This position will interact with the student body in a positive and mature manner to ensure an appropriate representation of Indiana Tech.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide a residential living experience for students that is world-class, promotes academic success, and attracts students to return to university housing through the completion of their degree
  • Guide and oversee management of the university housing operations for returning students while working collaboratively with and reporting to the Coordinator of Residence Life (688 beds, 7 facilities)
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining community standards within the residence halls
  • Direct responsibility for maintaining proper housing records including room assignment processes through Adirondack housing software
  • Oversee residence hall programming and activities with the focus on developing community and established learning outcomes.
  • Develop and support the RA staff to maximize the effectiveness of the department
  • Meet or exceed student retention and occupancy goals through collaboration with AVP of Student Services
  • Supervise, select, and train Residence Life staff, including Resident Assistant (RA) selection, performance, activities, training, meeting schedules and reviews
  • Inform and educate all students of university procedures and resources
  • Engage, collaborate, and communicate with all appropriate campus entities
  • Provide role-model leadership to faculty, staff, and students
  • Assess learning outcomes for the department and staff
  • Assist with implementation of programs and use of Andorfer Commons when requested.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Crisis Management Committee to provide a safe environment to the residential community
  • Perform additional duties as requested

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in related field required
  • Demonstrated time management skills

  • Possess and display proper interpersonal and human relations skills
  • Group leadership ability
  • Proper management of conflicts, stress, and related issues of residential communities
  • Required to work evenings and weekend hours for campus events

  • Experience

    • Minimum two years successful experience in related field preferred
    • Related experience in student development preferred
    • Prior University residence life experience is required.

    Working Conditions

    Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment and frequently in residence halls and various campus locations. Evening and weekend hours are required for campus events and various activities.
