Job Description:


Full-Time Athletic Trainer/Athletic Coordinator: Department of Athletics and Recreation, MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; Special Programs Coordinator, Pay grade 4; Haverhill campus.


Work schedule: This is a 37.5 hours/week position, with a customary work schedule of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Monday -Friday). During the various athletic team seasons, the individual appointed to this position must be willing to adjust their 37.5 hour/week schedule as directed by the Director of Athletics. This will require working certain nights and weekends, as necessary.


Position Summary:


The Athletic Trainer/Athletic Coordinator is responsible for the administration of athletic training services for the Northern Essex Community College athletic program, serves as the athletic trainer for the intercollegiate program and all home contests. Additionally, this position will assist in the administration of the college's athletic program in areas that include areas such as recreation, compliance, academics, fundraising, and equipment. This is a professional position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of all governing bodies, Region XXI, and Northern Essex Community College.


RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, this position will be responsible for but not limited to:


Athletic Training:


  • Coordinate in-house athletic training and providing athletic training services to all athletic teams.
  • Provide coverage for all athletic teams during home events
  • Stock and check out medical kits to traveling sport teams
  • Provide care for visiting teams when they are unable to provide their own medical staff
  • Facilitate educational training programs for coaches, staff and athletic personnel with regards to basic taping procedures, basic injury care, and concussion signs, symptoms, and protocols
  • Provide scheduled walk-in care hours for athletes
  • Develop, monitor and adhere to athletic training supplies budget
  • Coordinate the CPR certification program for the coaching staff
  • Provide students with preventative care taping techniques, injury evaluation, physician or other health care provider referral, and minimal rehabilitative care

Athletic Administration:


  • Prepare and maintain accurate and up to date records for student athletes.
  • Assist in the set-up and break down of athletic events
  • Assist Director with the management of Sport & Fitness Center
  • Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Attends and supports Athletic Department sponsored events to include athletic contests (game day coordinator/site administrator), fundraisers, and NECC events and faculty-staff functions.
  • Administrative duties could include one or more of the following: uniform management, supervision of recreation game area, assist with travel coordination, scheduling, agreements
  • Performs additional duties/special projects as directed by the Director of Athletics

Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.


  • Bachelor's degree required in a related field to the area of assignment, with three years (3) experience and/or training in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts Licensure for Athletic Training
  • Two years' experience working with athletic teams
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Access to reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of internet-based sport technology programs
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population.

Additional Information:


SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $52,754-$55,442 annually with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
