Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science at Savannah State University invites applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Chemistry/Forensic Science starting Fall 2022. The successful candidate will teach 12 semester hours of Chemistry and Forensic Chemistry courses. The faculty will be expected to engage and be proficient in online course delivery, program and curriculum development, academic mentoring, scholarly activities, engage in student success activities, and institutional service. The candidate will be expected to establish an active, externally funded research program in inorganic chemistry, computational chemistry, or forensic chemistry fields that involves undergraduate students. The faculty may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. The Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science offers an ACS certified Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art instruments such as HPLC, GC/MS, LC-MS, real-time PCR, thermocyclers, UV-Vis, NMR, FTIR, Raman, CD, etc. There is also a virtual reality technology center that is used for teaching chemistry and forensic science courses. The position will be open until filled.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry from an accredited institution. The Ph.D. must be conferred by the employment start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry with forensic science-related expertise
• Postdoctoral training and/or teaching experience
• Research interests in inorganic chemistry, computational chemistry, or forensic chemistry
