Job Description BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

  • To manage the admission and recruitment functions for the School of Medicine, including oversight for all School of Medicine academic programs, both professional and graduate.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Perform a variety of assignments that impact the School of Medicine Office of Admissions, such as manage the day-to-day operations of the School of Medicine holistic admissions processes and recruitment initiatives. Must understand how decisions made impact other departments within the School of Medicine and the university.
  • Research national admissions trends, with regards to undergraduate, graduate and professional school admissions processes.
  • Research national and specialized recruitment trends, and oversees the implementation and evaluation of recruitment initiatives for both professional and graduate programs in the School of Medicine.
  • Oversee customer service practices in the Office of Admissions and provides appropriate training to admissions staff.
  • Supervise two full time direct reports (Student Recruitment Specialists Senior), temporary staff, consultants, and student employees as necessary.
  • Coordinate operations of application portals (AMP, WebAdmit, Slate) and oversees annual renewal process for portal configuration
  • Responsible for evaluating problems and developing solutions for issues that arise in the day-to-day operation of an admissions office. Review current processes and procedures and evaluates multiple sources of information, including current trends and research as well as local data, when making decisions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing admissions policies in accordance with appropriate governing organizations, such as the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Liaison Committee for Medical Education, the Physician Assistant Education Association, and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling. Should also be knowledgeable in federal laws pertaining to admissions and holistic admissions processes.
  • Share responsibility for all admissions and recruitment initiatives (including interview days), while leading a team within the School of Medicine Office of Admissions.
  • Communicate difficult information with students who have been denied admission to a School of Medicine program, including providing feedback and counseling to applicants regarding the admission decision.
  • Develop and provide regular reporting of application and admissions statistics to School of Medicine administration and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the School of Medicine Office of Admissions, both internally and externally, when the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Recruitment is unable to do so. Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Recruitment.
  • Provide budget input and assistance with the purchasing process for the School of Medicine Office of Admissions.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree and Experience processing information on applications portals, such as Slate, AMP, or WebAdmit” preferred.

Salary

$53,600 - $59,000 annually commiserate with education, experience and equity.
