DESCRIPTION

The UCSD Health Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) was established to provide education, training and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego Region. ACTRI’s mission is to create an environment that advances health care through interactions between basic scientists, clinical investigators, community physicians, and patients. ACTRI collaborates with regional hospital systems, universities and biomedical research organizations.

ACTRI Population Science core has launched a new Center focused on the translational research process and community health outcomes. The Center's mission is to advance innovative, community-informed, community-driven health research and capacity-building, particularly in the binational San Diego/Tijuana region. By cultivating longstanding partnerships with marginalized and underserved communities, government agencies and nonprofits, the Center's applied translational research practices are driven by the communities the Center serves.

As part of Governor Gavin Newsom’s newly budgeted California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine (CIAPM), ACTRI researchers will receive $3 million to create a precision, community-based program to address specific health problems related to adverse childhood experiences or ACEs, a term that describes potentially traumatic events that affect children, such as family violence, abuse or neglect. The overall goals of CIAPM project are to better understand how ACEs impact development and study a novel way of identifying early who may be at risk for ACEs-conferred health problems, in order to inform effective interventions.

The Project Manager (PM) is a highly experienced hands-on and collaborative leader who can facilitate and direct complex projects among diverse stakeholders such as health providers, researchers and community leaders and organizations. Under the direction of the Center Director, the PM has broad and independent responsibilities for planning and managing administrative and programmatic operations as well as fiscal oversight of the CIAPM initiative. The incumbent will track service requests from investigators, clinical sites, and community partners to ensure requested services are provided in a timely fashion. Will be responsible for preparing timelines, benchmarks, financial resources, Gantt charts or other tools to assure timely and efficient completion of projects. Will provide assistance with project implementation and analyses, budgets, establish subcontracts and affiliation agreements, and provide human resource support as it relates to staff recruitment, promotion, and grant-management. The incumbent will work with the CIAPM team on process improvements across the clinical research lifecycle.

PM will assist team with project planning, statements of work, project deliverables, and "lessons learned" documentation. Provide project-specific administration in accordance with University policy for travel, purchasing, and other internal tasks. Support programmatic and infrastructure activities. Serve as point of contact for collaborating community, clinic and institutional partners.
