Position Summary

The Desktop and Server Management System Administrator is an early career position ideal for a candidate looking to growin a System Administrator role, and who hasexperience with, or is interested in learning about technologies such as MicrosoftEndpoint Manager (Intune), SCCM Co-Management, AAD Hybrid Join, Autopilot,Modern Device Management, and Azure Virtual Desktop as they apply in a highereducation environment.

The Desktop and Server Management SystemAdministrator will be part of a team responsible for daily support, ongoingmaintenance, administration and configuration of Desktop/Server OperatingSystems and Environments.  This willinclude performing day to day work in both on premise and cloud environments asrequired to support the academic, instructional and operational requirements ofthe college.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Administration

Conducts daily technical administrativework to ensure the availability, stability and security of computingenvironments. Assures minimum service interruptions by analyzing performance,scalability and available resources.  Develops strategies for, and performance tuning of, Collegemission-critical systems. 

Writes andupdates technical procedures, standards and knowledgebase for implementedsystems.  Maintains confidentiality ofsensitive data including network traffic analysis, file access, account accessand other forensic information. 

Understands and documents the technicalrequirements for new services or service enhancements.  Advises on technological decisions &provides service implementation estimates. 

Supports the overall operations of assigned environments, ensuring theymeets requirements and performance goals.  Identify reusable/preconfigured service components or standard productsfrom the market to leverage & assemble the service/solution.

Technical Support

Supports the patching and upgrades of applications and operating systemsin the environment.

Communicates system change control, disruptive orotherwise, through formal College change management process. 

Provides Tier II support for listed systemsand assists with in-depth troubleshooting for operational teams.

OTHER DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Attends all required department meetings and training.  Required to serve on On-Call/On-Duty rotations for after-hours support, 24/7 availability.  Other duties as required. Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.

The employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer, frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Employee occasionally reaches with hands or arms and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone.  Vision demands include close, detailed vision when focusing on computer screen. Employee pushes large carts, lifts equipment from shelves, and carries equipment from building to building by hand weighing up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Typical office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices. Working environment has occasional exposure to dirt, dust and outdoor weather conditions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of: Windows OS deployment, management and troubleshootingtechniques (SCCM, MECM, MEM, Intune); Application Installation &Troubleshooting; Endpoint Security (Antivirus Server / Client Management andBest Practices); Privileged Access Management; Scripting.

Skill in: verbal and oral communication; operating job equipment; planning,scheduling and organizing work; general typing; application of job softwareprograms; application of technical skills in area of specialization.

Minimum Qualifications:

High SchoolDiploma or equivalency and one (1) year of System Administration or (2) years of IT Technician experience.
WindowsOS troubleshooting, Application installation & troubleshooting, AntivirusClient support (Virus/Malware remediation), Group Policy Object creation andmanagement, and Basic scripting (e.g. basic, bash, PowerShell, VB, etc.)experience.

An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate. 

State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
